The link below will download a handy Concordance for the 1975 Abridgement

CDM concordance for the 1975 Abridgement (download WINDOWS English Version)

A Concordance is best with single word searches.  It’s not too bad for locating a phrase either, but it grows more clumsy when we wish to compare many instances of a phrase.  Adobe Acrobat has some useful phrase search features available to everyone.

We’re still looking for good public domain or shareware tools for text search and analysis.  If you know of any, let us know!

Adobe Acrobat Reader has some superb search capabilities.  It has two serious limitations, it’s slow and it doesn’t let you “capture” search results.  And of course, it doesn’t “capture” annotation references either, you’re on your own for digging those out.  Despite these limitations, it’s still a very powerful tool and useful resource for the student.

Because it allows for searches of a sort which aren’t suitable for the Concordance, we’ve decided to make the base text available in PDF format for Acrobat searches.

If you’re new to this, get the little “binocular” icon up … it’s labeled “Search.”  Click on it and away you go!  If the “binoculars” Search icon isn’t there on your toolbar, right click on a blank spot on the toolbar and then click on ‘more tools.”  Scroll down to “File Toolbar” and make sure the box beside the binocular icon labeled “Search” is checked.  That should do it!  That works for Acrobat Reader version 8 which is what comes from the “download link” above right now.
